Hunter Schafer Wants to Star in a “Trans Girl Rom-Com”

Hunter Schafer is ready for her meet-cute. The Euphoria actress told Elle for a new cover story published Monday that, after conquering the drama, horror, and action genres, she is ready to make a transgender-led rom-com.“I would just love to see a trans girl rom-com, too,” Schafer told Elle. “I’ve been thinking about that for a while. I would like to make that happen.”While she is ready for romance on the big screen, Schafer also spoke about her own love life, noting that, after previously dating pop star Rosalía and Euphoria co-star Dominic Fike, she hasn’t had a lengthy relationship. “I haven’t had a relationship that’s been longer than two years, and I’ve heard the two-year mark is when it gets more like a partnership rather than some passionate whatever-it-is,” she said. “Something that feels more sacred and intentional.”Schafer’s desire to make a rom-com comes just as her new action genre venture, Blade Runner 2099 — a sequel series to the films Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 — is set to premiere on Prime Video. The series, which also stars Michelle Yeoh, debuts on November 25. Schafer told Elle that Yeoh became a mother figure who helped “usher me into the world of action” filmmaking. After seeing Schafer throw herself to the ground multiple times while falling, Yeoh intervened and taught the Cuckoo actress the art of “layering a fall with your body so the weight gets dispersed.”Her time on the Blade Runner project has made her a fan of the genre. “The reason I like action so much is you don’t have to think that much,” Schafer said. “It’s just being in your body.” In terms of being in her body, Schafer also opened up to Elle about her bottom surgery, which she said she underwent in December. The topic came up after Lotte Jeffs, the journalist who wrote the cover story, had to remind Schafer that in the U.K., where the interview took place, she would have to use bathrooms that correspond with her sex ass
