J.K. Rowling Voices Rare (and Bizarre) Support for Trans Adults

We don’t know if it’s the stars or the infamous “mold” on the walls of her multi-million dollar castle, but J.K. Rowling is posting about transgender adults and is… glad they’re happy? This doesn’t change anything about how much damage she’s done, and how much she has personally invested in anti-trans legal causes, but it is, well, odd.On August 18, Rowling reposted a video on X from Democratic New Hampshire state representative Jonah Wheeler espousing common anti-trans talking points, including calling trans women men in dresses and saying trans women reinforce “negative gender stereotypes” by simply existing. The infamous children’s author captioned her share of the video, “every word.”When trans people pushed back on the post, her response stunned the internet, quite literally making headlines. “It doesn’t remotely infuriate me,” she wrote in response to a since-deleted X comment. “I’ve always believed that adults with intractable gender dysphoria may only find peace after surgery and taking hormones.
